Can Drinking Diet Soda Help Me Lose Weight?
The average 12-ounce can of cola delivers 150 calories, almost all of them from sugar. No study to date has ever shown diet soda to be especially useful in helping people prevent or shed unwanted pounds. In fact, there is a growing body of research that seems to suggest that high diet soda consumption is associated with a higher risk of obesity and may surprisingly carry an even greater risk of obesity than drinking regular, full-calorie and -sugar drinks.

Diet Tip of the Day
Orthorexia: An Unhealthy Obsession With Healthy Eating:
Orthorexia boils down to someone who is very, very concerned with eating what they consider the perfect diet. But healthy eating can turn rigid and confining, wiping out whole categories of food one by one—first anything with additives, perhaps, then maybe nonorganic produce, and then another and another. It can become decidedly unhealthy. Like anorexia and bulimia, it can wreak serious damage on the health of someone trapped in the obsession.
As I have mentioned before, allow yourself to cheat! I have so many “bad” days that I don’t feel like I’m on a conscious diet plan, but I’ve been getting lighter, fitter and happier. :)
Lunch @ 1pm
A lovely lunch with boss and colleague at a Chinese/Malaysian restaurant. Had soup, fish balls, noodles, eggplants, fish and other veges. Japanese green tea milk tea with pearls, half sugar.
Snack @ 3.30pm
Few bites of Whittaker’s dark chocolate and Toblerone.
Dinner @ 8.30-11pm
Finger foods at friend’s 21st. Probably the second 21st party I’ve been to out of the countless ones I’ve been invited to. Coldless, antisocial, lazy, I know. :P
Fitness Tip of the Day
10 Signs You’re Exercising Too Much:
Fat gain
If you’ve lost weight but noticed an increase in body fat, you could be in the later stages of exercise overload. The body responds to prolonged stress by elevating levels of stress hormones, including cortisol, Stenstrup says. Over time this will lead to increased storage of adipose tissue, as well as inhibit steroid-like hormones that normally help increase muscle. A decrease in muscle mass can cause you to shed a few pounds, but this isn’t a good thing since it means your body’s less efficient at burning fat.
Breakfast @ 7.30am
Bread and low fat cheese.
Lunch @ 1pm
Bowl of caesar salad with salmon. It had lots of white sauce… probably very fat.
Dinner @ 6.30pm
Bowl of duck and cabbage soup. 1/3 bowl of red rice and vegetables. 2/3 of a sausage.
I feel like I’m putting on weight again (maybe going back to eating 3 meals a day haha). Not going to put myself on the scales just now.

11 Tactics to Get More from Your Gym Sessions:
Cut your sessions to 45 minutes
Your gym sessions should not go for longer than 45 minutes. Any long than this and your body starts to produce a chemical that can actually hamper your progress. But that is not the only reason. If you cut your session times down you will be forced to fit more in and work harder. This is a fantastic way to work out – intensely.
Breakfast @ 8.30am
Half a plain bun with egg and vegetables. Cup of homemade passionfruit tea. Seaweed-flavoured peanut slab.
Gym @ 10am
25 minutes cardio: 10 minutes rowing (was aiming for 15 but the machine was broken) + 15 minutes cross-trainer (aerobics mode, sort of like interval training).
15 minutes weight training.
Lunch @ 2pm
Potato and ham quiche.
Short black. My first non-mocha coffee experience. Ohh mah fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. Will stick to green tea as the weight loss drink. Once in a life time is more than enough for that kind of ordeal. *shudders*

Dinner @ 7pm
Bowl of red rice congee with egg and vegetables. Half slice of red bean cake. Small bowl of mung bean soup.
Diet Tip of the Day
Know Your Daily Liquid Calorie Intake:
Milk
Researchers at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville found that having three servings of low-fat dairy per day can lead to weight loss of 10 percent or more. Dairy contains calcium and the amino acid leucine, which together promote fat burning. And a study of overweight women at Northern Illinois University found that soy milk was just as effective as nonfat cow’s milk in helping them shed pounds. But stick to skim or low-fat moo juice and light soy milk; otherwise, the calories add up quickly.

Lunch @ 1pm
Had guests over. Bowl of vegetable soup. Large bowl of noodles, sushi and other things. Bowl of sweet grass jelly soup. 1 chocolate brownie.
Snack @ 8pm
Few sips of sweet grass jelly soup. Half of a small slice of red bean cake.
